Lecher, Ernst, b. Vienna, June 1, 1856, d. Vienna, July 19, 1926, physicist. 1893 university professor in Innsbruck, 1895 in Prague and from 1909 in Vienna (head of the 1st Institute of Physics). Pioneer of high frequency measurement. Developed a method for measuring the length and frequency of electric waves ("L. wires").
