Fischer GmbH


Fischer GmbH, sports equipment company, founded in 1924 by Josef Fischer Sr. (b. January 31, 1896 - d. February 19, 1959) as a wagonmaker's shop in Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria) and specialised in the manufacture of alpine and cross-country skis, cross-country skiing boots, rackets and composite components for the aviation industry. Yearly sales total (1993) approximately ATS 855 million, with 720 employees and an export ratio of 80 %. In 1990 the sub-sector for aviation composite components and the firm Fischer Advanced Composite Components (FACC) GmbH, with 190 employees and ATS 270 million in sales, were hived off.
