Collegium poetarum et mathematicorum

Collegium poetarum et mathematicorum (in contemporary sources: "Collegium poetarum"), founded 1501 by Emperor Maximilian I for K. Celtis, independent student society which was subordinate only to the Rector of the university and merged with the Faculty of Arts around 1537. The Collegium poetarum et mathematicorum had two chairs for rhetoric and poetry, as well as two for mathematics, physics and astronomy; it pursued humanist ideas and was entitled to select poets laureate.
