Boer (real name: Boogers), Johann Lukas, b. Uffenheim bei Ansbach (Germany), April 12, 1751, d. Vienna, Jan. 19, 1835, obstetrician. Established obstetrics as an autonomous field of specialization in Austria, rejected the excessive use of artificial aids during birth and pointed out the natural powers of the body.
