Biochemie GmbH

Biochemie GmbH, biotechnology company with seat at Kundl (Tyrol); founded in 1946 by the Austrian Brau AG and taken over by the Swiss Sandoz AG in 1964. Since 1966 the company has been part of the Swiss biotechnology group Novartis. The company produces pharmaceutical substances and medications; it meets one third of the oral penicillin demand worldwide and employed 1883 people in 1997.
