Berchtold, Hubert


Berchtold, Hubert, b. Andelsbuch (Vorarlberg), April 2, 1922, d. Bregenz (Vorarlberg), Dec. 1, 1983, painter and graphic artist, studied under I. Opsomer and C. Permeke in Antwerp, then under J. Dobrowsky at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His work is marked by vivid colouring and a tendency towards abstract composition.


Works: Stained glass in St. Gebhard (Bregenz) 1955; Gläser und Äpfel, drawings, 1968; Höhlenbilder, 1973.

Literature: H. B. 1922-1983, 1988.
